River Spirit Golf Club: Spirit/Millburn

The Spirit / Millburn routing is one of three championship 18-hole combinations at River Spirit Golf Club, a premier 27-hole public golf facility located just west of Calgary. Designed by Russ Olson, the course winds through the picturesque Elbow River valley, where mature trees, Millburn Creek, wetlands, and rolling terrain create one of Alberta's most scenic golf experiences. The Spirit Nine is named after historic Indigenous burial grounds once located on the property and features generous fairways, strategic bunkering, and attractive natural landscapes. The Millburn Nine offers a more demanding challenge with dramatic elevation changes, winding creeks, ponds, and several risk-and-reward holes. Together, they form a balanced championship layout that rewards both length and precision. Playing 6,684 yards from the Blue tees, the Spirit/Millburn combination carries a course rating of 71.5 and a slope rating of 129. Four sets of tees allow golfers of every ability to enjoy the course, while Bentgrass greens and Kentucky bluegrass fairways provide consistently excellent playing conditions.
